GROWING LIGHT

 

So you’re not what I expected

What was I expecting

Some kind of mother nature type

To rub me and protect me

Set up like a statue

Stronger than the rapture

I’m not sure what I was after

But you’re sure a much better dancer

And when we go out

I find myself nicer to my brother

Thinking about my family

I’ll even call my mother

Maybe tell her that I love her

Tell her I found someone who understands me

And I’ve been thinking about that scene from Bambi

I know that’s not all that manly

But I’m like a little kid on candy

And when we go out

And if the stars fade away

Slip into that old, cold city grey

We can put on overalls

Paint some on the walls of your room

Towards that day we change direction
