HOPE VS. PRAY

When I said that I was leaving here for good

Back then I meant it

Angry letter in my hand, there I stood

And never sent it

But I'd hope and I'd pray

And I'd hold back the days

Because I knew not where they lead

Efforts spent to keep on smiling

Though our fences never mended

Golden Rule redefined

Never broken, though we bend it

And we hold back the days

Believing there's a better place

Though we know not what that means

Lessons learned here at least

Go in peace, this mass has ended

Though our eyes will point the way

The mystery has been defended

That the road will lead you back someday
