RUNNING THE ENGINE

Too many years to know just how it began

But once I found you I took you and ran

Ran to the edges where we'd be understood

Beneath the dark woods

 

We were running the engine

And made no time to mention

All the work we would do

But we knew

Spinning my wheels to get my foot in the door

Of all the places we'd not been to before

Punching my ticket, punch my foot on the gas

The higher we climbed the more those mountains grew
